The model 538 Jupiter Transceiver sprang from the Pegasus core and was internally called the PegasusFP during development. The FP initials referring to the Front Panel. The panel provided standard controls and an LCD display. Which was monochrome green at first then changed to monochrome blue later on, which came to be called the Jupiter Blue.
The display allowed for the addition of new features like on screen CW Decoding.
One other interesting feature of the Jupiter was the ability for it to fully mimic the Pegasus. This would take place automatically when the radio was operated from a PC that was running the Pegasus control program.
There was also a shortwave receiver based on the Jupiter, designated the RX-350. While it was essentially a Jupiter under the hood, there were new boards that added time and timer functions allowing the radio to turn on and off at preprogrammed times.
